PATTERN DESIGN: Longevity

Traditional Pattern Design

[Project Brief]
Everybody, from long ago to the present, wishes for longevity and health. Even in the past, both aristocrats and ordinary citizens had a desire for longevity and health, and a painting depicting the ten symbols of longevity is “Ten Longevity Symbols Painting”. Although “Ten Longevity Symbols Painting” and the “traditional patterns” of Korea were created a long time ago, I think they do not look out of style, but rather, are attractive. I created patterns based on this painting, and applied them to a series of deliverables. 

[Solution]
Longevity Symbols Painting” to be more modern and made the traditional patterns of Korea suitable for all household products by using the traditional five colors with reduced saturation. I also designed it using vintage textures so that past and modern looks can coexist. Just as our ancestors placed the folding screen of “Ten Longevity Symbols Painting” nearby, I applied the pattern to a variety of household products so that we could keep our hopes for longevity and health at all times in our modern world.
