BRANDING: Hello ladies

Women-led community
Focused on women’s safety issue

[PROJECT BRIEF]
Women do not feel safe outside. Catcalling is an ever-growing issue. Out of 54 randomly selected women on the streets of the San Francisco Bay Area, 100 percent of them said they have been targeted with street harassment before. Sexual harassment on the street is a daily occurrence for me in San Francisco.
It is really common to do catcalling to random women on the street, and even worse, to commit sexual crimes against them. Therefore, I wanted to think about how to solve the problem from a designer's point of view through this project.

[SOLUTION]
Make a women-led community where young women can bond with each other, and suggest several ways to protect themselves when they don’t feel safe on the street. How do I protect myself when I don't feel safe? I want to think about how women can feel safe on the streets.

FIRST DELIVERABLE: WOMEN'S SELF DEFENSE EXPO 2019
It is a workshop where you can learn self-defense. Here, women learn how to scream, defend themselves and even attack a stranger when they face unexpected danger on the street. Our goal is to make them stronger and more confident on the street even at night by watching and giving advice to each other. Finally, women can continue to be interested in sports and these kinds of activities for their safety in the long-term.

SECOND DELIVERABLE: SAN FRANCISCO SAFETY APP SERVICE
In the second deliverable, I wanted to find a way to avoid dangerous situations in everyday life from the beginning. I thought the application was a good way to search for safe areas easily and get updated information continuously. This is an app that allows users to search for crime data by region, zip code or street address, and get results from other users. There is an emergency button too. It automatically texts 911 and alerts everyone who downloads this application at the same time. People can avoid it or call 911 for you. There is also a navigation system that guides you only through safe streets. It takes longer than other directions, but it's much safer.

THIRD DELIVERABLE: THE SELF DEFENSE CARD GAME. AN EASY WAY TO LEARN SELF-DEFENSE TECHNIQUES
Fortunately, while I'm working on this project, I was able to take a self-defense class with the support teacher. It was a very fun and valuable class. In that class, I could learn specific skills and moves, and I realized that it is really important to practice those techniques. However, I think about my audience who are not able to pay for the marshal art class or it also can be there is no such a self-defense class around their town even if they want to practice. I wanted to suggest a way to learn for people who don't have this chance. In terms of that, I decided something that can enjoy and learn at home. The easy and fun way to learn self-defense skills is to play a card game that is easily accessible at home.
